The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) are coordinating actions with Russian military in the area of the Syrian city of Deir ez-Zor, Nesrin Abdullah, the spokeswoman for the Kurdish Women's Protection Units (YPJ), which is part of the SDF, told to media.

"Our joint with the Russian forces control headquarters is operating ... The operation in Deir ez-Zor is expanding ... We understand that Russia has a weight in the region and military power to defeat terrorists," the spokeswoman said.

Kurdish forces are not undertaking any joint actions with the Syrian government forces, Abdullah noted. The spokeswoman also explained that the Russian military was providing security on the line of contact of the Syrian opposition and the government forces.

Abdullah expressed hope that Russia would also lay the foundation for a political settlement in Syria.

On Monday, the Russian Center for Syria’s reconciliation said that the Kurdish militias were ready to ensure the security of Russian servicemen on the eastern shore of the Euphrates.
